Constantia family home: whole-home automation and coverage
A double-storey family home with a cottage, a long driveway and a set of devices that had never been introduced to each other.
Sample layout — illustrative structure, not a real client project
The challenge
- Sample layout — replace with the real brief. Typically: cameras on one app, gate on a remote, aircon on remotes, lighting on the wall, and nothing shared between them.
- Wi-Fi failing in the cottage and upstairs bedrooms; smart devices dropping offline weekly.
What we designed
- Network rebuilt first: cabled access points, PoE switch and a separate network for cameras and IoT devices.
- Existing cameras, gate, aircon and lighting brought into one system with a wall panel in the kitchen.
- Outdoor and driveway lighting added on presence and schedule.
Technology
- Access points, managed switch and PoE
- Home Assistant as the coordinating platform
- Existing cameras and gate motor integrated
- Smart switches and outdoor lighting control
Automations
- Gate opening triggers driveway and entrance lighting
- Aircon off in unoccupied rooms
- Good Night routine checking doors and gate
- Alerts for doors left open and devices going offline
Outcome
- Sample layout — real outcomes will be recorded here with the client's permission.
