Sea Point apartment: lighting, blinds and reliable Wi-Fi

A two-bedroom apartment where the brief was better light in the evening, blinds that handle the afternoon sun, and Wi-Fi that reaches the balcony.

Sample layout — illustrative structure, not a real client project

The challenge

  • Sample layout — replace with the real brief. Typically: single overhead light per room on a hard switch, no dimming, and an entertainment area that only worked with lamps.
  • Body-corporate rules limiting invasive work, and a fibre router in the entrance cupboard covering roughly half the apartment.

What we designed

  • Retrofit dimming behind existing switch plates so no fittings or finishes were replaced.
  • Motorised blinds on the west-facing windows with power taken from an existing point.
  • A single wall-mounted access point cabled from the fibre cupboard to cover the full apartment including the balcony.

Technology

  • In-wall dimming modules
  • Motorised roller blinds
  • Wi-Fi access point and small switch
  • Apple Home as the everyday interface

Automations

  • Evening lighting levels following sunset
  • Blinds closing against afternoon sun on the west side
  • One-press Movie and Good Night scenes
  • Pathway light at 10% overnight

Outcome

  • Sample layout — real outcomes will be recorded here with the client's permission, including what changed day to day and anything we'd do differently.
